Built over two hundred, Pisan Romanesque style, was elevated to cathedral status in 1258. When Cagliari was the capital of the kingdom of Sardinia, inside swore representatives of the three displacements (the Sardinian parliament arms). During the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, the temple was renovated according to the canons of the Baroque style.
